§ Q3. Mr. Grantasked the Prime Minister whether the public speech made by the Minister of Overseas Development at Hull on 16th January, 1966, about housing represents the policy of Her Majesty's Government.
§ Mr. George BrownI have been asked to reply.
Yes, Sir.
§ Mr. GrantIs the First Secretary aware that in that speech the Minister of Overseas Development boasted that in the sphere of housing the Government had made an impressive start? How can this possibly be reconciled with the abject failure of the Government to keep their election pledge to build 400,000 houses?
§ Mr. BrownI commend the speech made by my right hon. Friend and if the hon. Gentleman reads all of it he will see all the evidence set out.
