§ 39. Dr. David Kerrasked the Minister of Health whether he has completed his review of family planning services; and when he will make a statement.
§ Mr. K. RobinsonYes, Sir. I propose to issue a circular of guidance to local health authorities later this week.
§ Dr. KerrWill the Minister acknowledge that the interest which is now so extensive throughout the country reflects a rapidly-changing situation in this respect, a situation which would change more rapidly if the promise of contraceptive tablets for use by men is carried to fruition, as seems likely? Will the House have an opportunity of discussing this statement shortly?
§ Mr. RobinsonIt is not for me to say whether the House will be in a position to discuss the statement. Without wishing to anticipate the details of the circular before it is in the hands of local authorities, I will tell my hon. Friend that it will remind them of the importance of family planning advice and treatment and will encourage them to make use of their existing powers to the fullest possible extent.
