§ 36. Mr. Wallasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what arrangements have now been made for the payment of pensions in Rhodesia; and whether pensions are now being paid to Britons in Rhodesia and to Rhodesians in Great Britain.
§ Mr. MacDermotI would refer the hon. Member to the Answer given to the 198 hon. Member for Galloway (Mr. Brewis) on 7th February. The answer to the second part of the Question is "Yes, Sir."
§ Mr. WallIs the hon. and learned Gentleman satisfied that pensioners of Rhodesia, both here and in Rhodesia, are receiving their pensions without undue delay?
§ Mr. MacDermotTo the best of my knowledge the payment of pensions is now flowing smoothly, thanks to the present arrangements.
§ Mr. Peter WalkerBut would not the Financial Secretary agree that these payments are going only to public service pensioners, and will he not reconsider the fact that people in private pension schemes are not receiving any payment of pensions at all?
§ Mr. MacDermotNo, Sir. That statement is not correct. The arrangements apply also to private pensions.
