§ 35. Mr. Websterasked the Minister of Power if he will circulate the costing criteria of the nuclear power station, Dungeness B, to international nuclear energy agencies in order to assist in the obtaining of common criteria in the costing of such constructions.
§ Mr. Frederick LeeCopies of the brochure published by the Central Electricity Generating Board last summer on the appraisal of the technical and economic aspects of Dungeness B nuclear power station were sent to the European Nuclear Energy Agency and to the International Atomic Energy Agency; they were also very widely distributed to people and organisations both at home and abroad who were likely to be interested.
§ Mr. WebsterIn view of the fact that there is likely to be a tenfold increase in nuclear power generated in Europe in the next six years and now we are in a cost-advantageous position, is the right hon. Gentleman aware that I very much regretted that in a debate last week in Strasbourg it was shown that the Nuclear Energy Agency did not seem to be aware of these figures?
§ Mr. LeeI am surprised at that. The brochure was issued in several languages. If we can do anything further to assist in the matter we shall, because we are as anxious as the hon. Member is to get these exports. With the kind of coverage we gave I am pretty sure they knew. Maybe they wanted to pretend that they did not know too much about it.
