asked the Minister of Labour what consultations he has had with the management of Vickers Limited, Scotswood Works, in relation to redundancies there.

Mr. Gunter

My local officers have been in close touch with the firm and have made all the necessary arrangements to assist those who have been made redundant to find alternative work.

Mr. Brown

Will my right hon. Friend seek further consultations with this firm, particularly about the mass of unused workshop space, with a view to encouraging other industry into the establishment?

Mr. Gunter

I would certainly be willing to consider that.
