§ Mr. LiptonI beg leave to present a Petition to this honourable House signed by some 4,500 residents of Brixton.
The Petition states that the war in Vietnam is causing death and desolation to the Vietnamese people, and may possibly develop into a world conflagration. It continues:
Wherefore your Petitioners pray that this House urges Her Majesty's Government to dissociate themselves from United States policy of military intervention in Vietnam, to demand the immediate withdrawal of all American forces from Vietnam, and to work for the recall of the 1954 Geneva Conference, and to follow a peaceful and independent foreign policy.And your Petitioners, as in duty bound, will ever pray.
