§ 28. Mr. Wingfield Digbyasked the Minister of Power what capital sum was spent in the last year by the Gas Boards and the Central Electricity Generating Board; and what proportion this represented of total capital expenditure in the public sector.
§ Mr. Frederick LeeI would refer the hon. Member to the published Reports and Accounts for 1964–65 of the Gas Council and the Central Electricity Generating Board. Total capital expenditure by the gas and electricity industries was nearly one quarter of capital expenditure by the public sector.
§ Mr. DigbyDoes not that represent a very big precentage? Is the Minister sure that it is now being spent to the best advantage from the point of view of the nation?
§ Mr. LeeI think it is being spent to the best interests of the nation provided we can get the gear we pay for.
