§ 46. Mr. Kenneth Lewisasked the Minister of Health what percentage of the sale of dental drills supplied to hospitals and the dental profession is imported from the United States of America and Europe, respectively.
§ Mr. LoughlinIn 1964–65, of the expenditure on dental drill units provided for the hospital service, in England and Wales the proportions imported from the United States of America and Europe were less than 1 per cent., and approximately 35 per cent., respectively. General dental practitioners provide their own equipment, and we do not know how much of it is imported.
§ Mr. LewisIs the Parliamentary Secretary aware that a fair amount of money is being spent on the importation from America of a drill which is available in the same type in this country? Would it not be better to save dollars?
§ Mr. LoughlinOn the percentage figures I think the total expenditure is not particularly great, but if the hon. Gentleman would care to let me have details I should be glad to have a look at them.
