HC Deb 27 May 1965 vol 713 c831
25. Mr. Hamling

asked the First Secretary of State and Secretary of State for Economic Affairs what help has been offered to his Department by trade associations in his campaign to hold down prices.

Mr. Albu

Any help required has been readily given both by individual trade associations and by the national organisations.

Mr. Hamling

Would my hon. Friend note the difference between the attitude of industrialists and the stupid attitude of some hon. Members opposite?

Mr. Albu

This is very clear indeed. I doubt whether hon. Members opposite are doing themselves any good with the trade associations, which are giving us great assistance in this matter.

Mr. Peter Walker

Would the hon. Gentleman agree that he has received far more help from the trade associations than he has from the Postmaster-General or the Chancellor of the Exchequer?

Mr. Albu

That only displays the hon. Gentleman's complete ignorance of the policy and of how it is being carried out.
