§ 18. Mr. Bryant Godman Irvineasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what progress is being made with plans for improvement of the Nadi-Suva road in Fiji.
§ Mrs. WhiteProgress on the improvement of the Nadi-Suva road is dependent on the Colony being able to raise the necessary loan finance on reasonable terms. This loan finance must be additional to that at present required for other important development projects and the Fiji Government are currently giving urgent consideration to the raising of such a loan.
§ Mr. Godman IrvineIn view of the importance of the road to the economic life of the territory, will the hon. Lady have another look at the matter and see whether there is any help or assistance she can give?
§ Mrs. WhiteWe shall do all we can, but we have to consider priorities in this.
