§ 24. Mr. Shepherdasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he is aware that concern caused by Manchester overspill development arises from unsatisfactory layout and design; and whether he will use his good offices to ensure that, consistent with cost factors, only the most acceptable form of development is pursued.
§ Mr. MacCollMy right hon. Friend is as concerned as the hon. Member that overspill developments for Manchester should be designed to the highest standards; and so is the city council.
§ Mr. ShepherdWill the hon. Gentleman take a close personal interest in this matter, since the best interests of overspill areas and Manchester will be served by maintaining the highest possible level of design?
§ Mr. MacCollAs I think the hon. Gentleman knows, Manchester City Council is consulting the county council, particularly about Wilmslow, on getting good schemes prepared.
