HC Deb 18 March 1965 vol 708 c1447
3. Mr. Patrick Jenkin

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what progress has been made towards finding a permanent site for the location of the new London Business School.

Mr. Crosland

I understand that the governing body of the London Graduate School of Business Studies is considering this matter, but no recommendation has yet been made.

Mr. Jenkin

Will the Minister bring to the notice of the governing body the desirability of not confining its attentions to the immediate centre of London, bearing in mind that although, in the early stages, it may well be dependent on the two sponsoring bodies, as the years go by it will become more independent and able to stand on its own feet?

Mr. Crosland

It occurs to me that the hon. Member may have been very interested in the site of the Royal Wanstead School at Snaresbrook in this connection. I understand that this site has been drawn to the attention of the governing body and that it is considering it with other sites. I have no desire or intention to direct it as to what it may ultimately decide to be the most convenient and admirable site.
