Arrangements for the government of colleges of education are being reviewed by a study group which I recently set up.
§ Mr. HamlingIn the 20th century is it not appropriate that institutions of higher education like colleges of education and technical colleges where advanced work goes on ought to be as democratic and self-governing as universities?
§ Mr. CroslandI am entirely in favour of adopting the best practice which is most suitable for the mid-20th century, but I should not like to go into more detail at the moment, if my hon. Friend will forgive me, because in the case of colleges of education a study group is already at work, and in the case of technical colleges I hope that one will be at work by the autumn.
