HC Deb 16 June 1965 vol 714 c439
15. Sir J. Langford-Holt

asked the Minister of Transport if he is aware that a large part of the carriageway in Cavendish Square which has been taken out of service during the construction of the Victoria line has been used for the all-day parking of 30 motorcars; and what action he proposes to take.

Mr. Tom Fraser

This is a matter governed by Section 46 of the British Transport Commission Act, 1955, and is entirely the concern of the London Transport Board and the Westminster City Council.

Sir J. Langford-Holt

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that a large part of the carriageway is being taken out of service, thus creating difficulties for buses and other transport, and is being used for the private parking of a large number of cars within an area which has been taken for the purpose of the works in progress? Will the right hon. Gentleman look at this again?

Mr. Fraser

There is no point in my looking at it again, if it is not my responsibility. I assure the hon. Gentleman that I have enough troubles of my own without sticking my nose into someone else's problem.
