HC Deb 29 July 1965 vol 717 c670
25. Mr. Edward M. Taylor

asked the President of the Board of Trade what representations he has received for the nationalisation of the shipping industry and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Mason

None, Sir.

Mr. Taylor

If the hon. Gentleman has received no representations as such, would he agree that it is not for the want of proposals along these lines by the more outrageous Left-wing organisations? Will he give a firm assurance that he will not seek to solve the problems of this industry by the sterile formula of nationalisation?

Mr. Mason

That supplementary question is quite irrelevant because I have received no representations on this topic.

Mr. Emrys Hughes

Has my hon. Friend received any representations from Right-wing elements calling for the denationalisation of our oldest nationalised industry—the British Navy?

Mr. Mason

Not yet.
