HC Deb 15 July 1965 vol 716 cc967-8

Lords Amendment No. 10: in page 21, line 38, at end insert: () In accordance with the preceding subsection, but subject to the next following subsection, section 39 of the Act of 1962 shall have effect as set out in Schedule (Section 39 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1962, as amended) to this Act.

1.0 am.

Mr. MacColl

I beg to move, That this House doth agree with the Lords in the said Amendment.

Perhaps it would be convenient to take the following Amendment and Amendment 15 which is the new Schedule A—"Exemption of certain classes of development."

Mr. Deputy-Speaker

That would be convenient.

Mr. MacColl

When we were in Committee my recollection is that we supplied for hon. Members a copy of Section 39 of the 1962 Act as amended by the Bill, which was found to be a considerable convenience. In another place it was suggested that it might properly be included in the Bill and that is what these Amendments do. The remaining Amendments on the Notice Paper are the same operation translated into Scots. I think that this will be found convenient for the public and people who have to look at the Clause.

Mr. Graham Page

I compliment the hon. Gentleman on adopting this course of putting the new Clause complete into the Schedules. I hope that this is a precedent which may be followed more. It has been adopted in some cases in the past, but not enough. It makes it clear what the Amendments do.

Question put and agreed to.

Remaining Lords Amendments agreed to.
