HC Deb 19 January 1965 vol 705 cc8-9
10. Mr. Ridsdale

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will allow the cost of rail season tickets to be counted as a legitimate expense for tax purposes.

Mr. Diamond

No, Sir.

Mr. Ridsdale

What are the Government doing to stop the new round of extremely severe price increases by the nationalised industries? Have letters been sent to the heads of these industries? Cannot the hon. Gentleman do something to alleviate the position of season ticket holders in face of these very severe price increases?

Mr. Diamond

The hon. Gentleman put down a Question relating to an allowance for tax purposes and not one related to price increases generally.
