§ 3. Lord Balnielasked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lanchester whether he will take steps to improve co-ordination in the recruiting, training and allocation of workers for the whole of the social work field in the public services.
§ Mr. HoughtonIf the noble Lord has any particular steps in mind, I will certainly see that they are considered.
§ Lord BalnielThe right hon. Gentleman is charged with the responsibility of co-ordinating the social services. Would he not agree that a really major reform could be achieved if he could secure a greater degree of co-ordination in the recruiting, training and allocation of child-care officers, probation service officers and health and welfare service officers? Will he give this a very high priority in his general review of the co-ordination of the social services?
§ Mr. HoughtonThe noble Lord has already put Questions to the Minister of Health about his responsibilities in the matter. I can assure him that we shall consider all matters relating to the recruitment and training of staff in this work.
