HC Deb 02 February 1965 vol 705 cc881-2
15. Mr. Blaker

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what consultations he proposes to have with the holiday industry before introducing permanent legislation on the relations between landlord and tenant.

Mr. Crossman

I will see a deputation from the holiday industry shortly if the hon. Member and his hon. Friends would care to arrange it.

Mr. Blaker

While I welcome that reply, may I ask whether the right hon. Gentleman recalls that in the debate on his temporary Bill he conceded that that Bill raised a problem for the holiday industry which he had not been able to solve, although he had had no consultations with the industry? Will he give an assurance that this time the consultations will be more than a formality?

Mr. Crossman

A Minister could, after all, not meet a back bencher further than I met the hon. Member in my original Answer. We shall have the discussions, and I think that I shall be able to remove their alarm.
