§ 37. Lord Balnielasked the Minister of Health whether he will examine the powers of his Department and the Council of Social Work Training to help with the training of tutors for courses for health and welfare social workers, so as to bring them into line with the powers of the Home Office to help with the training of tutors in child care and the probation service.
§ Mr. K. RobinsonI am in touch with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Education and Science on this question.
§ Lord BalnielDoes not the Minister agree that a measure of reform could be achieved in these services if there were co-ordination in training in child care, the probation service and the health and welfare services? Will he consider bringing the powers of his Department into line with those of the Home Office in relation to child care and the probation service?
§ Mr. RobinsonI am discussing the whole matter with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Education and Science. He is considering future arrangements for the professional training of these tutors as teachers in colleges of further education.
