HC Deb 20 December 1965 vol 722 c1687
67. Mr. G. Campbell

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will make a statement on the Commonwealth Peace Mission for Vietnam.

Mr. George Thomson

I have nothing to add to the reply given by my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister to my hon. Friend the Member for Salford, West (Mr. Orme) on 14th December, 1964.

Mr. Campbell

Is the Mission to be kept in existence indefinitely and has its continuing membership been decided?

Mr. Thomson

On the first point, I have said I have nothing to add to what my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister indicated. We still hope that an opportunity may arise for the Mission to fulfil a constructive rôle in the search for peace.
