§ 73. Mr. Bruce-Gardyneasked the Minister of Transport if he will refer to the Scottish Transport Users' Consultative Committee the matter of the representations made to him by the hon. 1689 Member for South Angus for a report by them on the recording of the evidence taken before them.
§ The Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport (Mr. Stephen Swingler)I understand that the Committee are very willing to make appropriate arrangements for a record of any particular public hearing to be made available in response to any reasonable request.
§ Mr. Bruce-GardyneYes, but is the Minister aware that in order to obtain a hearing it is necessary for a member of the public to pay for a copy to be made of the transcript which is made by the T.U.C.C.? Would he not agree that a rather better method should be provided to enable the public to have access to the evidence submitted to the T.U.C.C.?
§ Mr. SwinglerWell, it depends on the kind of record made. The Scottish committee makes records on tape, and I think that if the hon. Member approaches the committee it may be perfectly possible for him to obtain a copy he wants without payment. But it is matter between him and the committee.
