§ 43. Mr. Rankinasked the Minister of Health what arrangements have been made to ensure that a supply of non-fluoridated water is available for use in haemodialysis.
§ Mr. K. RobinsonNone, Sir. I am advised that they are unnecessary.
§ Mr. RankinIs my right hon. Friend aware that an expert body of medical opinion, supported by experimental data, has declared that fluoridated water can have a fatal effect in certain types of kidney disease? If my right hon. Friend has evidence which contradicts that, will he publish it?
§ Mr. RobinsonYes, Sir. I have evidence that experimental work has totally failed to show any hazard due to fluoride levels in the blood of an order which would result from haemodialysis in fluoridated water and no request for the supply of fluoride-free water has been received from doctors in charge of haemodialysis units.
§ Mr. LubbockWas not a consultant appointed by the Ministry of Health, at the time of the fluoridation studies to investigate any complaints, coming from the areas concerned, of alleged harm due to fluoridation? After five years, was not that consultant still waiting for his first case?
§ Mr. RobinsonThat is quite correct.
