§ 19. Mr. Tinnasked the Minister of Transport when he will publish the results of his survey of the road system on Tees-side.
§ Mr. SwinglerMy right hon. Friend has not yet received the report of the consulting engineers appointed by his predecessor to make the survey. When he does he will consider the recommendations and make an announcement as soon as possible.
§ Mr. TinnWhile thanking my hon. Friend for that reply, may I ask him to bear in mind when considering the report the particular problems of East Cleveland 442 in regard to employment and the condition of the roads?
§ Mr. SwinglerWe are very anxious to study the report as soon as possible. We realise that there are very important implications for the economic development of Tees-side and transport in the area. Owing to improvements in the techniques of surveying, the survey has taken rather longer than was expected, but we believe that the results will be much better than if it had taken a shorter time.
