HC Deb 07 April 1965 vol 710 cc471-2
22. Mr. Adam Hunter

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the review of housing subsidies.

Mr. Ross

The Working Party which was set up to review housing finance has completed much of the necessary fact-finding, and I hope shortly to meet its members to discuss possible changes.

Mr. Hunter

I thank my right hon. Friend for that reply. Is he aware that many local authorities are looking forward to an increase in housing subsidies in the near future, and that this would accelerate the rate of house building in Scotland?

Mr. Ross

I am certainly aware of what the local authorities are looking forward to. I have met some of them and they have let me know what they think has been holding up housing But the number of tenders approved in the last six months was much higher than in any previous half year.
