§ 21. Mr. Patrick Jenkinasked the Minister of Power if he is aware that the pricing policy of the Central Electricity Generating Board discriminates unfairly against large industrial users of electricity; what, in considering future proposals for increased charges, will be his policy in regard to this; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. John MorrisMy right hon. Friend has no evidence of discrimination. Consumers who consider that there is such discrimination in the pricing policies of the electricity boards may make representations to the electricity consultative council for their area.
§ Mr. JenkinWhile thanking the hon. Gentleman for his reply, may I ask whether he does not recognise that cheap energy is the basis of industrial efficiency and that the costs of electricity to large users are substantially higher than the costs of their principal competitors abroad?
§ Mr. MorrisI certainly accept the importance of cheap electricity.
