§ 9. Dame Joan Vickersasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what is the policy of the Hong Kong Government with regard to changing the marriage laws for women in order to conform with the United Nations convention concerning the consent to marriage, minimum age of marriage and registration of marriages.
§ Mrs. WhiteThe Marriage Ordinance, under which some 50 percent. of marriages are celebrated, already conforms with the United Nations Convention.
Proposals for legislation relating to Chinese marriages are being prepared, having regard to the provisions of the Convention.
