§ 2. Mr. Merlyn Reesasked the Minister of Health if he is aware that the diagnostic X-ray, pathological and electro-cardiographic facilities available to general practitioners in the city of Leeds are less extensive than in other cities of comparable size; and if he will take steps to remedy the situation.
§ Sir B. StrossMy right hon. Friend is aware that the facilities are inadequate. Developments at St. James's Hospital will improve them over the next year or two.
§ Mr. ReesIs my hon. Friend aware that the general practitioners in my constituency, who have put these views to me concerning the inadequacy, believe that if they were given better facilities they would be able to reduce significantly the waiting list in Leeds Hospital?
§ Sir B. StrossI am not certain whether that follows, but it is a fact that the board recognises that in Leeds the position is worse than elsewhere in the region and is not helped by the fact that in the teaching hospital the existing accommodation is so restricted that we can expect but little help from there.
