§ [Queen's Recommendation signified]
§ Considered in Committee under Standing Order No. 88 (Money Committees).
§ [Dr. HORACE KING in the Chair]
§
Motion made, and Question proposed,
That, for the purposes of any Act of the present Session to make provision with respect to the departments and salaries of certain Ministers, it is expedient to authorise the payment out of moneys provided by Parliament—
§ 9.50 p.m.
§ Mr. Sydney Silverman (Nelson and Colne)This is the Money Resolution, and what the Committee is now doing is voting the money which will be required to carry out the purposes of the Bill, to which the Opposition have said they are opposed in total at the beginning, in 757 total at the end, and at each stage throughout the Committee stage.
I hope that it is being borne in mind that if the Opposition allow the Money Resolution to go through they will be in a particularly difficult position from the point of view of any sincerity of opposition which they may have intended if, having voted the money, they reject the proposals.
§ Mr. Robert Cooke (Bristol, West)Surely, when the Bill gets to Committee, if certain Clauses or parts of Clauses are struck on the money to pay those people will automatically be struck out, too?
§ Question put and agreed to.
§ Resolution to be reported.
§ Report to he received Tomorrow.
