HC Deb 18 November 1964 vol 702 c418
9. Mr. Shepherd

asked the Minister of Aviation why it is proposed to reduce the flight angle at Ringway; and what effect this will have on the noise level in houses in the vicinity of the flight path.

Mr. Stonehouse

My right hon. Friend is considering a request by the airlines operating heavy jet aircraft at Ringway to lower the glidepath angle from 3 to 2½degrees, which is the angle recommended by the International Civil Aviation Organisation. We shall take full account of the noise effects before a decision is reached.

Mr. Shepherd

But will the Parliamentary Secretary remember that although my constituents do not make a lot of trouble in this connection they are subject to the same nuisance value from noise as are other airport dwellers who make a lot more noise?

Mr. Stonehouse

We shall certainly bear all that in mind.
