HC Deb 11 May 1964 vol 695 c143

Lords Amendment: In page 18, line 22, leave out from "or" to end of line 24 and insert "a periodical allowance or both".

Lady Tweedsmuir

I beg to move, That this House doth agree with the Lords in the said Amendment.

This is a drafting Amendment and if convenient to the House, I suggest that we discuss with it the following four Amendments.

Mr. Deputy-Speaker

If that is agreeable to the House.

Lady Tweedsmuir

Clause 26 refers at several points to a capital sum or an annual or periodical allowance or of both such sum and such allowance. This is clumsy, because an annual allowance is necessarily a periodical allowance, and there is no need to employ both terms. This Lords Amendment alters the reference to a capital sum or a periodical allowance or both. The four subsequent Lords Amendments make corresponding adjustments and they are all drafting.

Question put and agreed to.

Subsequent Lords Amendments agreed to.
