§ 30. Mr. Jayasked the Secretary of State for Industry, Trade and Regional Development when the Anglo-Australian Trade Agreement of 1957 is to be re-negotiated.
§ Mr. JayWas not the renegotiation of this Agreement postponed because of the Common Market negotiations? Does not it now offer an opportunity for the development of Anglo-Australian trade? Will not the Minister fix some date now?
§ Mr. HeathNo, Sir. The right hon. Gentleman is correct in saying that the renegotiation of the Agreement was postponed for that reason, but I would have thought that if there was to be effective negotiation in the Kennedy Round, the existing Agreement should be allowed to run, and that remains the position.
