asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations and the Colonies when the geenral election in Aden will take place.

Mr. Sandys

Not later than 25th October, 1964.

Mr. Thomson

Does the right hon. Gentleman recall that the last elections took place as far back as 1958, on a 25 per cent. poll, and twice since then they have been postponed by Her Majesty's Government? Will he now give a firm assurance that there will be no further postponement and that they will, in fact, take place on 25th October?

Mr. Sandys

I have no thought of taking any action to postpone them further.
