HC Deb 04 June 1964 vol 695 c1393

10.30 p.m.

The Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (Mr. James Scott-Hopkins)

I beg to move Amendment No. 71, in page 23, to leave out lines 1 to 3 and to insert: orders under subsection (2) of this section shall be included among the orders to which section 33(2) of that Act (which makes certain orders subject to annulment in pursuance of a resolution of either House of Parliament) applies. This is a technical drafting Amendment. Its purpose is to ensure that Orders made under subsection (2) shall be subject to the same negative Resolution procedure in Parliament as already applies to Orders made under Sections 14 and 15 of the Sugar Act, 1956. The original wording might have been read to mean that these Orders should not be subject to any Parliamentary procedure. This is purely a clarifying Amendment.
