§ 35. Mr. Hastingsasked the Postmaster-General when he expects to be able to increase the number of telephone lines between Bedford and London.
§ Mr. BevinsI expect to provide 41 more circuits early next month. This will increase the present number by nearly 30 per cent.
§ Mr. HastingsThis will be very welcome news in our part of the world. Is my right hon. Friend aware that it has been represented to me that it is easier to get through to Hong Kong than from London to Bedford? Will my right hon. Friend take it that, wherever the difficulty lies, anything he can do to help will be gratefully received?
§ Mr. BevinsI think that my hon. Friend will find that the increased provision will more than meet the demand.
