HC Deb 20 February 1964 vol 689 c1384
28. Mr. Dalyell

asked the Minister of Education what steps he has taken, since he decided to raise the school-leaving age, to set in motion a study of the detailed recommendations of the Newsom Committee and their policy implications.

Sir E. Boyle

The recommendations and their policy implications have been under study in my Department since the Report was published. Particular attention is now being given to those recommendations which relate to the implications for the curriculum of the decision to raise the school leaving age. In the expectation that a Schools Council for the Curriculum and Examinations will be set up later this year, proposals for its consideration are now being prepared.
