§ 40. Mr. Jegerasked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware of the delays and congestion at the single-line swing bridge over the canal at Thorne; and what proposals he has for a new bridge suitable for heavy industrial traffic.
§ Mr. GalbraithA new bridge over the canal will be constructed as part of the Thorne by-pass scheme. An order under Section 7 of the Highways Act, 1959, establishing the route of the bypass, was made in October, 1963. There are further statutory processes to be completed and the design work and land acquisition to be undertaken but we hope to authorise construction within a year or two.
