HC Deb 16 December 1964 vol 704 c381
39. Mr. Rankin

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the prospects of a new secondary high school for Govan.

Mr. Ross

Glasgow Education Authority proposes to start this project as soon as it is ready, which is now expected to be early next summer.

Mr. Rankin

I must be satisfied with at least one crumb of support. I am sorry that the commencing date is so late as next summer. I thank my right hon. Friend for his statement, but could he assure me that once the project is started it will be carried forward with the greatest possible speed?

Mr. Ross

I can assure my hon. Friend that it could not be started any earlier, because at this stage we are in process of planning. I thank him for his measured thanks.
