§ Brigadier T. ClarkeOn a point of order. Mr. Speaker, I should like a Ruling on what I as a back bencher can do to get a truthful answer out of a Minister. On 16th November—hon. Gentlemen opposite will be interested in this—I was trying to help old-age pensioners. I asked a Minister a question, and was told that it was administratively impossible to give them their pensions before April. Yesterday, at Brighton, the Deputy Prime Minister gave a different answer. How can I get the right answer to this question?
§ Mr. SpeakerThere seems to be an illusion in some quarters that anybody can rise at any moment to raise a topic 34 on a point of order although it is wholly unconnected with the current business of the House. If the hon. and gallant Member wants some help about procedural matters it is my duty, and it will be my pleasure, to give him some advice in private. I have no right to detain the House on the point raised by him now.
