§ 23. Mr. Nobleasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what rôle he envisages for the Scottish Council; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. WillisI am sending the right hon. Gentleman a copy of a letter on this point which my right hon. Friend has written to Lord Polwarth as Chairman of the Scottish Council.
§ Mr. NobleI shall await anxiously the receipt of the letter. I am sure that the Secretary of State appreciates, as we all do, the amount of really hard and successful work the Council has done and I hope that he will be able to find real use for the Council in the future.
§ Mr. WillisWe would wish to be associated with that tribute to the work of the Council. Arrangements for the future will allow the Council to continue the kind of work that it is doing at present.
