HC Deb 30 April 1964 vol 694 c718
Mr. Brooke

I beg to move, in page 4, line 3, at the end to insert: (4) Any reference in this Act to any other enactment is a reference thereto as amended, and includes a reference thereto as extended or applied, by or under any other enactment, including this Act. Since the earlier stages of the Bill, some of the statutes referred to in it have been amended by or under subsequent legislation. The particular case which I should mention is that under the Defence (Transfer of Functions) Act, 1964, which is operative from the beginning of this month, the Defence (Transfer of Funcions) (No. 1) Order has been made, and it has amended a number of statutes which are mentioned in the Schedules to the Bill. The Amendment simply makes clear that any reference to a statute in the Bill is a reference to that statute as extended or applied, by or under any other legislation.

Amendment agreed to.
