HC Deb 09 April 1964 vol 692 cc1276-7
Mr. Corfield

I beg to move Amendment No. 6, in page 4, line 14, at the end to insert: (5) The reference in subsection (1) of this section to expenditure incurred or to be incurred by a housing society in carrying out its objects includes a reference to expenditure incurred or to be incurred by it in acquiring land on which to construct houses or in acquiring houses to be managed by the society, whether after improvement by the society or in the condition in which they are acquired. The object of the Amendment is to make it clear beyond any doubt that a housing society can buy and manage existing houses which may not need to be improved or repaired, and that the Housing Corporation can make loans to the housing society for this purpose.

Amendment agreed to.
