HC Deb 24 October 1963 vol 682 cc901-2

11.7 a.m.

The Lord Privy Seal (Mr. Selwyn Lloyd)

The House will wish to know that, following representations, it has been agreed that our procedure today will be as follows. While the other place deals with certain business before Prorogation, we shall move, so soon as new Members desirous of taking their seats have been introduced, a Motion, "That this House do now adjourn", in order to allow debate until Black Rod arrives.

11.8 a.m.

Mr. Harold Wilson (Huyton)

The House will be glad that the Government, who, a couple of days ago, were not even going to do us the courtesy of making this short business statement, have agreed to do so.

As the right hon. and learned Gentleman has announced that the Government are to move, "That this House do now adjourn", to permit debate in a few minutes' time, perhaps it would be appropriate if I and other Members reserved all comments on the business statement until the Adjournment has been moved.
