asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs whether he will consider publishing as a White Paper the Report he has received from the Committee on Depopulation in Mid-Wales.

Sir K. Joseph

Yes, Sir. The Report will be published by the Stationery Office as soon as possible.

Mr. Watkins

As the Report has been in the Minister's hand since June and this is the sixth Report in the last 10 years dealing with rural depopulation in Mid-Wales, may I ask the right hon. Gentleman to indicate the next steps which he proposes to take?

I have already written to the Chairman of the Committee which published the Report indicating my first reactions, and consultations are now taking place between the Welsh Office and the Committee which produced the Report.
