HC Deb 07 May 1963 vol 677 cc217-8
23. Mr. Lawson

asked the Minister of Public Building and Works how much of the building research and development undertaken by his Department is done in Scotland; and whether there has been any increase in the last five years.

Mr. Rippon

When my new Directorate General of Research and Development undertakes development work i will consider how and where it can best be carried out.

Mr. Lawson

Will the right hon. Gentleman bear in mind that just as a policy of the dispersal of personnel from London could be carried out and helped a great det1 by the Government, so in a case of this sort Government action in ensuring that research and other establishments are set up well away from London could be of great advantage to the nation?

Mr. Rippon

I agree.
