asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many sheep have been exported on the hoof to Africa for sacrificial purposes at religious festivals over the last twelve months.

Mr. Scott-Hopkins

So far as I am aware, there has been only one consignment consisting of 879 sheep.

Mr. Gibson-Watt

Can my hon. Friend say from tile information which he has been able to get whether this form of traffic will increase or decrease?

Mr. Scott-Hopkins

I see no reason why there should be any increase in this traffic.
