§ 33. Mr. SHINWELLTo ask the Parliamentary Secretary for Science, as representing the Lord President of the Council, whit progress has been made with long-corm plans for industrial development in so far as they affect the unemployment problem in the North-East.
§ 34. Mr. SHINWELLTo ask the Parliamentary Secretary for Science, as representing the Lord President of the Council, what assistance has been given by his Department to local authorities in the North-East to enable them to proceed with increased housing and the provision of needed amenities.
§ 35. Mr. W. T. RODGERSTo ask the Parliamentary Secretary for Science, as representing the Lord President of the Council, when the Lord President will reply to the letter he received on 13th March from the hon. Member for Stockton-on-Tees regarding the Stockton ring road; and if he will announce his decision on the construction of a dual carriageway road between Durham Road and Norton Avenue as an agreed measure to improve communications locally in the interests of long-term industrial development.

They refer to unemployment, housing and roads. Is it in order that Questions about the North-East should always be put to the Parliamentary Secretary for Science?
§ Mr. SpeakerI will look at the matter again. Prima facie, all is all right. For the present, I observe that neither the right hon. Member for Easington (Mr. Shinwell) nor the hon. Member for Stockton-on-Tees (Mr. W. T. Rodgers) is present.
