§ Mr. BevinsI intend to have a new automatic exchange with S.T.D. in actual operation at Petersfield towards the end of 1965. The present manual exchange 1148 will then be closed and operator services will be provided from Portsmouth.
§ Miss QuennellWill provision be made to find jobs elsewhere for those who are currently employed at the Petersfield Telephone Exchange?
§ Mr. BevinsYes, certainly. Established members of the staff still in our employment at the time of conversion will be offered alternative employment. We shall do all we can to cope with the situation of temporaries as well.
