HC Deb 07 March 1963 vol 673 cc642-3
Q7. Mr. Pavitt

asked the Prime Minister on what date he received the report from the Review Body on Doctors' and Dentists' Remuneration; and when this report will be published.

The Prime Minister

I received the Review Body's advice on 27th February. It is being considered and I hope to make a statement shortly.

Mr. Pavitt

Will the Prime Minister expedite the statement which he is to make? Is he aware that there is widespread opinion in the medical profession that there has been undue delay? Is he aware that the last time there was undue delay the final settlement amounted to a 29 per cent. increase? Will it not be embarrassing for the Government if they have to have a similar sized increase while at the same time they are refusing the teachers' claim?

The Prime Minister

I do not think that one week is an unreasonable period for the Government to consider a report of this kind.
