asked the Minister of Labour what were the figures at 14th January, 1963, of workers unemployed in the furnishing industry in Shoreditch as compared with the figures at 10th December, 1962; and how they compare with the total national figures of unemployed in all the other manufacturing industries at those dates.

Three hundred and thirty-one people whose last employment was in the furniture and upholstery industry were registered as unemployed in the Shoreditch area on 14th January, 1963, compared with 109 on 10th December, 1962. The national totals of unemployed in manufacturing industries other than furniture and upholstery at these dates were 214,326 and 187,372 respectively.
